Question for restorations - clutches
Question for you restoration pros - what do you do with the clutches? Media blast and clear coat? Or use a aluminum color paint? Obviously no paint or coat will work on the sheave faces but I'm taking about what you can see on the outside when installed on the sled.

On the primary, I have been soda blasting them, and polishing the cover a bit. On the secondary, I clean them up and paint them. You could perhaps re-plate the sheaves if you wanted, and they are smooth enough to look good.

My preferred methods would be.
Primary
Media blast aluminum components. Because I like the contrast of the black to the aluminum I like to paint the covers. Then I use the yellow cad hardware on the cover. Again a nice contrast to the black. It's not stock, but I like the look.
Secondary
Media blast aluminum components. If possible plate the sheaves for the original look. I found a place in Toledo that will do it for lunch money, so it's not a big expense. They can do either the white or the yellow plating. They don't do the prep work so if you go with the plating, find out if they do any prep, you may have to do it yourself.
