1984 Liquifire for sale #159. SOLD

Post by JDfanAZ »

I fell behind on getting this finished. Down to seat, checking idlers, and fine tuning carb (in Minnesota). Engine resealed and rings. This has a 108c clutch on it and will be sold with a buildable TR800 clutch. Rebuilt fuel pump, new fuel lines, and battery. It is in Great condition. Hood is an 83 which was on it when I purchased it. I made a video of it on youtube (1984 Liquifier 2016). This will be at the Waconia Ride in the end of this month. Electric start, and hand warmers. $2500.00. Call if interested and See you at the show. I will add a few pictures which need to be done separate off this old computer....SOLD

Tunnel has the 84 stripe. A friend who purchased the Sportfire and the #160 sleds new said it may have been sent that way. Probably got backed into with a vehicle or something like that and that was the only available option to fix it. No repairs were done to that hood. So I call it what is is. 84 with an 83 hood. To help the sale I am willing to pick up another hood and paint it. The new owner would have to place decals.

Hoods are the identical. Sealed top vents in front of windshield, left vent by headlight and vent on left side of hood. Then the right top vent by windshield.

1980 hoods were the only ones different because the vents in front of the windshield were open and simply covered with a riveted panel. From 81 on those vents were sealed. The triangular shaped open hole left of the headlight was supposed to get it's own screen after 1980 but that never happened.

Pat is that vent guard in front of the windshield supposed to hold cold air in?

I'm remembering they blocked it off to reduce the amount of snow that entered the engine compartment. Also added foam seals and the grill screen at the same time.

The vent remained open on the Trail and Sport. They must have been managing air flow on the Liquifire in some fashion, keeping snow out as Nick suggested, or both. The intake of snow would be a similar issue on the fan cooled models but likely a trade off for maximizing air flow for warmer conditions. The triangular shaped hole on the LF hood left of the headlight was added to enhance clutch cooling. Perhaps the screen absence was a victim of the overall exit of the business two years later.? This would be a good question for Stan Hayes....
