Well, I cleaned the entire fuel system and still have the same problem. I just ordered a needle and seat and fuel pump kit from New Breed Parts. I had a needle and seat that I thought would work, but it was for another style Mikuni.
I moved the needle e-clip to the leanest setting and it made quite an improvement which leads me to believe it's running rich.
The manual I have shows a washer under the main jet, but there is no washer under the jet in my carb. Anyone know which is correct?
I also found a small thick rubber washer (almost like an o-ring) in the engine compartment today. I tried to upload a photo, but the file size is too large. Anyone know how I can change the file size to upload a photo?
Anyway, I'm curious if that little washer didn't come out of the carb somewhere...
