Ok, I see a lot of megaphone pipes on different vintage sleds, some added, some from factory, is this just a coolness factor? Any gain from this? Disadvantages? What about back pressure? Just popped in my head and wanted to ask.

You don't see megaphones on anything beyond the early 70s because engine builders realized that they can get better performance and tuning with pipes. This is why Olav Aaen is an industry pioneer.
