Newb Crank Seal Question

Post by Mark633CSi »

This might be a dumb question but, I'm about to replace the crank seals in my '82 Trailfire LX and my question is, when you guys replace the crank seals are you putting Yamabond on the outside of the seal or just on the machined case halves? Ron Haines had posted a video on Facebook and it looked like the outside of the seal was coated in Hondabond. My video playback quality was terrible so I wasn't too sure.

Whenever I've replaced seals before, I've always made sure the bore was clean and installed the seal without any sealant.

Thanks!!

Yes he did in that video. I didn't used to do that since they are already rubber, but I have lately, because it doesn't hurt anything, just in case there is an imperfection.
