Removing Cylinders...?
Hello! I pulled the engine out of my '82 Trailfire LX and and about to reseal it. Everything to this point has come apart great but it seems the cylinders are stuck onto the crankcase. I don't want to pry or hit the fins too hard so what works for you guys? As always any help is appreciated!!
Re: Removing Cylinders...?
A rubber mallet is a good tool to use. A couple of light hits one each side should break it free.
Hitting the flange of the manifolds should be a safe target.
Note that some engines have short studs that hold the cylinders to the uppercase and some use long studs that go all the way through the case halves.
Some cylinders are held on by the head bolts alone.

A couple whacks and they popped right off!! You could see that they were leaking between the cylinders on both sides. Not to mention the rings were stuck on the clutch side.
Thanks so much!!
