1980 spitfire question

Post by Mikesbikes »

I picked up a 80 spitfire, neat little sled. Problem is it dies when warmed up and is hard to start. I replaced the crank seals and swapped to a round slide mik. Has good spark cold and warm kinda stumped.

It sounds like your choke plunger may not be seating all the way. There should be some up and down play in the choke cable where it mates with the carb when properly adjusted. Otherwise, it sounds like something else is causing a rich condition.

Definitely not a rich condition, will start with a squirt of fuel and run great till idled down or shut off and then hard to re-start. Throttle and choke cables are adjusted properly with the correct amount of free play.
