White Olympic Snowfire???

Post by TASKY »

Anyone know anything about a white 81 Snowfire that was on ebay? I heard bits and pieces on a vintage ride I was at this weekend. Nobody seemed to have factual information or details other than it was white and that it was in the Olympics and sold on ebay.

Bill, I think the majority of us wrote it off as not real. It would have been built after the Olympics. It is true that John Deere provided some sleds to the Lake Placid event but I'm certain they were Trailfires.

That was my thoughts exactly. Lake placid was the Winter of 1980, pre- Snowfire . Where was this talked about? On this site somewhere?

Jim. I remember many years ago seeing pictures of 1980 Trailfires used in the Lake Placid Olympics. They weren,t anything special over what we know now. They simply only had added a small decal on the machine that indicated sponsorship of the 1980 Lake Placid winter olympic games and the coloured circles all joined together as symbolic of the olypics. The sleds where used that I remember for arrends up and down the ski hills for sure!! but can,t remember if they also used them as emergency first aid response sleds. Hope this helps...Rob.
