What happened here?

Post by JDCornFlakes »

I have been on a bit of hiatus from JD Sleds here spending time doing another car.
Well now I am back on site much more recently and seems that no one else is really?
Few years ago be off here for 2 days and be 20-30 + new posts and I would be pissed cause a great NOS part would be listed and gobbled up in 30mins.
So what happened here ?

I think Facebook has expropriated the activity on site ?
So I see reference to "The Facebook page" .
I thought if cannot beat em then join em .
But what page I go to ?

I see jd sled shed or John Deere Snowmobiles sale/parts/show .
Can someone direct me to which one?

Maybe I will be a another FB freak.

Thanx Dave

I've been thinking the same thing, but the less than stellar snow conditions the last few years have kept me from getting too excited about sleds.

As far as Facebook goes there's at least 4 that I know of and probably some I don't know about.

JD sled shed
JD snowmobile / parts for sale
Dueling Deere garage
John Deere free Auction site

Facebook has for sure pulled activity away from here. John Deere Snowmobiles Sale/Parts/Show is the good one. The moderators there are members here too.

I agree with you. Not really that big into social media and so many people I know will run into and mention something and say well it was all over Facebook. Well I guess I am a bit dinosaur somewhat and like things the way there are.
I have always loved this website and so many help you without asking for nothing in return.

Facebook pages I looked and not really liking layout out at all.

Did a restoration on 1970 Buick GS 455 from Texas.

Thanx Dave

Dave,
Nice car, the 455 Buick is the best big block motor made, big bore short stroke makes for a very fast motor.

If it's any consolation, I've noticed the number of members on this site has been increasing rather steadily.

Love the Buick big blocks. Pontiacs aren't bad either. Have a friend who owns 8 Goats and all but one are Judge Ram Air IV.

The big block Buicks are torque monsters. Amazing how hard the car pulls with 3.42 gear and a mildly built over stock engine.
I have some 1969 Pontiacs also. The RAIV cars are worth quite exponential compared to the RA III cars.
If it is a PHS documented IV Judge then he has a valuable car.

Agreed Pat, I put a couple announcements on Facebook awhile back because several of those folks didn't know about this site. I think it worked.

They're all documented and one of them is one of six made and the only car of the six in the color. That car has been on the Pontiac calendar and resides in it's own room. He drives all of his cars....very carefully on Sunday mornings.

I took a break from sleds for a couple years. Sold off all my sleds and trailer.

I decided this Spring I need to put a Sportfire together for this coming winter!

What this site has that FB does not...is the searchable topics and index's. Very handy.

Plus the posts on here tend to be more reliable.
