Took the 81 Liquifire out for a ride today.

Post by Bryce »

First time in the snow since I fixed it. It has been sitting around for about 15-20 years. All I had to do was rebuild the rewind, rebuild/clean the carbs, put in new spark plugs, carb boots, fuel pump/lines, throttle/choke cables and clean the clutch. I still need to set the deflection on the drive belt and put an air filter on, but other than that it runs like a top. It has 1,300 miles on it.

How old are the crank seals? Don't risk burn down on a sled that's been sitting. Original power jet Mikuni carbs? Plastic air intake silencer commonly known as an air box is supposed to be fastened to the intake side of the carbs. It has a metal internal screen with a U-shaped hose to pull air from directly underneath the box.

I definitely plan on putting new crank seals on it and putting the original air box on too. I have been looking for the airbox on eBay for a while now, but I still haven't found the right one. Thank you for all the tips. This is my first sled so it is all very new to me. The technical manual has been my best friend.
