As expected, Adam and I hit the swap pretty hard, and found a few more needed pieces for the racer. We purchased quite a pile of new 13 plate wide gears to give us a choice in final gear selection. Note the factory sleds came with 11 plate wide chains, and I used a 15 plate wide one for the Liquifire, but had to clearance the chaincase cover to make it fit. The 13 plate width is a nice improvement in strength without dealing with excessive width. Since we planned to use modern clutching, we knew we were dropping gear ratio from the factory 21/39. Getting piles of gears at fire sale prices was a good start. Unfortunately no one had 13 plate, 68 pitch chains left.
We also snagged several different springs and helix's for the Team secondary's along with other misc parts. Also picked up a few NOS JD parts like a deep snow kit for the Liquifire and such. Best parts was of course running to friends like Tom Rowland in the swap. That was until we swung by his booth for 'Thomas' SnoSports' where I fell in love with a left over 2017 ZR600RS, the Roger Skime tribute model. Ya, that cost me a few weeks later when I found out he still had one in the crate.
Adam kept me busy loading and moving sleds from his many hauls, I kept him busy looking for modern parts for the Dator. Overall another great time at Hay Days. We must have had fun, as we went back again in 2018...
