Trailfire Driveshaft Bearing Flangette Question

Post by Hec In Omaha »

Howdy All,

I am in the process of gathering all the parts to convert my 81 Trailfire Track to an 80 Liquifire Suspension. So far I have a 1981 Liquifire Suspension, NOS Liquifire springs, a nice Kimpex Track, and an 82 Sportfire Rear Arm. I plan on using the shock from the Trailfire. I am not planning on using the Trailfire upper idlers.
I have ordered new driveshaft bearings from Napa Auto Parts and also need the Bearing Flangettes. Napa Auto Parts has Bearing Flangettes but they are a little different in that they do not have the square holes cut in them like the originals. They only have the round bolt holes in them. I figure the originals must also accommodate a carriage bolt and therefore are a universal fit. I don't see an issue with using the Napa Flangettes as there is no use for the square holes. What do you guys think? Should I use the Napa Flangettes or go with the M80293 Bearing Flangettes? I am also going to weld "weld nuts" on the back side of on one Bearing Flangette for each pair.

As always you input is greatly appreciated.

Hec, I offer the flangettes (M80923) both plain and with the nuts welded. Let me know if I can help you.

You can’t use the NOS liquifire springs. You need trailfire springs and shock. And no need for new flanges. Use your old ones and put some money back in your pocket.
Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.

Dustin,

Do I use all the Trailfire springs, front and rear? Today I got my engine back in. May try and fire it up tomorrow and see if the engine will breath life. Once I get it running then its time for the track swap.
