Trailfire 440 engine issues

Post by flacker36 »

I have a trailfire 440 that has engine issues. The engine has been rebuilt from top to bottom. It starts fine, but the idle is real low. As it warms up the idle goes way up. Then after riding, you turn off the key or kill switch & it wants keep running but like on only one cylinder. Any helo would be great.

I would check the wiring on the 5 terminal plug you had to disconnect to pull the engine. You mentioned that the engine was redone from top to bottom so I am assuming the Flywheel and stator plate was removed. If so, you had to remove 3 wires from the 5 terminal plug in order to remove the stator plate etc.. I hope you recorded how those 3 wires were oriented so that they go back in the same place in the plug.

That's my wild guess
