1982 trailfire 440 Exhaust flange

Post by mikes90 »

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help me figure out my exhaust flange issue.
The flange that is one the sled is to large and does not seal. It also seems to move out of place easily. I can't see a part number in the manual or find any information about it.

The flange is between the exhaust manifold and the pipe

Let me know what the best solution is please.

M.

Can you post a picture of what your problem is? Its possible the flange is wearing out from natural causes like rust, age, use. If you are having trouble with it sealing, I would try Permatex Ultra Copper RTV. It takes about a day to dry before you can test it, but it is a nice high temp RTV meant for exhausts. It does not harden either, it stays fairly flexible to move with the exhaust.

That is if you are talking about the part I think you are. From your description, I am picturing where the exhaust pipe hooks up to the exhaust manifold.

Thanks for the reply,

It's weird, someone has added an extra flange to the front of the exhaust where it meets the header/manifold. When I remove said flange the cup hits the spring mount. It's almost like its not the right exhaust.
I will snap some pictures tomorrow.
