Well guys i got lucky yesterday. My nephew called and his neighbour had a old jdx8 in bush beside his place. Told my nephew to get it out of there lol. Turns out its 300 serial numbers off mine. He’s bringing over today. Cool! Steve

Airborne what do you like to use for pistons? Spi has what they call a boxer piston. Ever heard of these?

The last engine i got from old collector the guy said the jdx8 had way to much power for chassis. What is your guys thoughts?

Not sure if I've ever heard of a boxer piston but I've used SPI products.

Seems like Lee Hardesty used the X8 with a lot of success on the grass so the power would be all good!

The 440/22 with the CDI and tuned pipe was the highest power output of any mid-mount they built.

Haha i hear ya. I told my wife that’s kinda the way we like to roll. I was primarily skidoo my whole life and never paid much attention to these. Would they be considered faster than a 75tnt?

Faster than a TNT? Someone else would have to answer that.

What is generally accepted is that the '75 800 and JDX8 were at the upper edge of sanity with a mid-mount. If you haven't ridden a mid-mount in awhile, your first impression will be that the thing is a death trap. That is what I thought the first time I got on one after 25 years. However, after a couple of laps around the field, I had my ass hanging off the seat and was sending it! You don't drive these, you ride them. They go fast enough to scare ya.

It is interesting that most of the new sled designs are basically mid engine designs. Cant wait to get ol girl up n running.

That's exactly what I was thinking. And Brian is correct about how you ride them having spent many hours on an X4 Special doing precisely that. Didn't have plastic skis to really get busy....
