Hello All..
I’m new to this forum and looking for some help in getting a trailfire 440 to idle and run on both cylinders...mag side seems to me like it’s not firing and yet there is lots of spark from the wire...any suggestions as I’m new to this sled as well

Welcome to the land of Deere crazy.....
Do you have compression on both sides? Change those crank seals if they're not fresh or if the sled has been sitting a few years.

Re: 79 trailfire 440
New Breed should have them
Re: 79 trailfire 440
Do you have to split the crank to put new ones in...sorry if this is a dumb question
Re: 79 trailfire 440
I have seen drive seals, and I assume you can still get them, but I would recommend splitting the case. You can pull the engine and flip it over and change them without pulling the jugs if I remember correctly. All of my sleds are probably due for seals again.... lol

Yes they can be changed by splitting the case only. Still have to reseal but it's better than burndown.
Re: 79 trailfire 440
Just an update to all the help from you guys
I had trouble to have this thing idle when I first got it and you all said replace crank seals ....
I have now done that and took it a step further with the other gaskets as well at base and head ,exhaust, and intake
Compression at 146-150
Installed back into sled and 3 pulls with choke and bingo runs like a champ...
Thanks again for all the good advise..

Love it when a plan comes together! All we had to do was coach from a computer. Glad you had success!
