Wdb30 and wra31

Post by Popcorn popper »

:sled: Ive got four different engines here 440/21 and two/22. One has wra31 which I understand is correct. Another has wdb30. The other the /21 has wd-5 and another spare has the bendix. Do you all recommend the wra31?

Brian just put up a great post the other day where he states that the WRA-31 seemed to be the best choice: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19978&p=138186#p138186

Thanks Matt. Did the wdb come on these jds or did someone transplant? My books say the wra was on all 75jdx. In fact it doesn’t show wdb30 on any jd sleds

The original carb on a 73 440/21 was I believe the WDA-34. They were too rich in the mid range. Which is perhaps why you are seeing the other ones installed. The WRA-31 seems to work on everything.

I happen to have a 440/22 I bought from a buddy a year ago that came out of a 74 Mercury. It has a Walbro carb on it, so I took a look to see what was on it. Well, it is a WDA-47A...yeah, what the hell is that? They all look alike, the only obvious difference is that this carb has 90 degree fuel fittings on the bottom of the carb.
