Hello All,
I'm located in NE PA but I'm willing to travel a bit to find a good engine for my first JD Sled, a 1974 600.
The old owner fired this machine up on starting fluid right after our first snow storm this season and didn't make it too far on his farm, before the engine seized. Unfortunately he melted the piston and ruined the cylinder in the process and locked up the bottom up end.
In my opinion it would be too costly to rebuild and quite frankly, pistons and gaskets don't seem readily available for these piston port Kioritz engines.
So I'm searching for a sled with a free engine or just the engine would also work.
I found a couple 400 series with 340's in them, but I'm not sure if the dimensions are the same between 340 & 440 CCW's.
Any help or guidance would be MUCH APPRECIATED.
Jack
