SHOF Classic Round UP!

Post by 400brian »

We are about one month away from the 2021 Show and Swap put on by the Snowmobile Hall of Fame. Like everything else, it was cancelled last year. I have attended twice before, and was looking forward to attending last year and was really bummed out when it didn't happen.

Katy and I are planning to attend. There is the cook out at 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon which tends to go on for as long as you want, or in some cases moved to a local watering hole. The swap starts at 7:00 am on Sunday, with set up for the vendors earlier. In past years the swap has been well attended, as in it seems to get larger every year. I have came home with so good stuff in the past!

We have a room booked at the Whitetail, and are looking forward to hanging with the gang.

Hi Brian and JDsledders,

Cari, Richard and I have a room at the Whitetail for the HoF CSR. I am driving up while those two slackers are flying into MSP. I have 340/s hoods and trunks to pick up, a sled or two to drop off, and maybe a sled or two to bring back to DFW. Hard to do that as a carry on...

We are looking forward attending the events and seeing some of the JD folks up there!

As we approach the Round Up weekend in St Germain, it appears that the weather may be decent. Cool if you are coming up from warmer climes and are expecting bikini weather, but decent if you recall the -30 of last time we were there.

I am looking forward to cold snacks and conversation, I know some of the JD gang is planning to attend, so be there or be square!

Well I have not been up to the HOF ride with the champs in a few years, I am going to make it up to the swap meet.
I'm flying the Bonanza from Joliet into Eagle River Saturday and renting a car to visit some friends there.
My friend is awaiting a nice Eliason snowmobile to add to his collection and I hope to see it delivered Saturday.
Hoping to see some familiar faces and wash out some cloud dust!

Hopefully find some parts I can fit in the plane.

The Round Up is in the books! It was great to see the gang on Saturday, the informal gathering sitting around in lawn chairs and sipping a cold one is a great way to begin the event! A little pre-swapping takes place, some tall tales are told, it was a nice afternoon. One thing we learned is that 5 year old Richard Rainville has a definite affinity for mud. He spent most of the afternoon making it, forming it, and covering himself in it. I believe it started as an assault on an ant hill, we explained to him that we don't have Fire Ants in Wisconsin, but it seemed he was taking no chances.

The swap seem to be well attended. I picked up a few things, lightened my wallet, and went home satisfied. When Katy and I made our first pass through the vendors at around 9:00 am, every Deere sled we saw had a sold sign on it. JR had an 81 LF on the trailer he was delivering to a customer, and I saw 6 or 8 guys who seemed very interested in buying it. Perhaps the upswing in interest in Deere sleds we saw last winter is continuing. It is a double edged sword, but probably a plus for the hobby in general.

Items added to the stash last weekend. Picked up a set of the repro drivers, a used Yokohama track, a straight 72 grab bar, some JDX6 ring sets, and a Midwest Ride-In shirt.

The track will go in the Cyclone for the wife, and we are planning to attend the Show in Elk River in January.
