Are the cylinder heads interchangeable between a 440/2, 440/3 and 440/5 ? motors are out of 1973 and 1974 john deere 600's.

Did a bit of checking in the parts book. In general, the 72 and 73 engines are different from the later ones. In this case, the early heads are thinner and require short reach sparkplugs. In 74 when the /5 engines came out, they went to the long reach plugs as the heads were thicker.
The 73 500 / 600 engine heads were: M63946 and M63947. For 74 and 75 it shows: M64691 and M64692.
So do these interchange? They may physically bolt on the jug, but the hardware won't be the correct length, and shroud won't fit correctly unless mods are done. I myself would not mix and match them, I don't think they are all that hard to find.
