2023 Ride with the Champs!

Post by 400brian »

The 2023 Ride with the Champs week is approaching!

Officially, the events this year start on Thursday February 16th with the "Legend Laps" event at the Derby track in Eagle River.

Friday there is a Scorpion ride, a poker run, and a group of us will be running the "Bogie Bash".

Saturday is the Ride with the Champs, the all day official event.

Details can be found on the Hall of Fame webpage or Face Book page.

A number of us will be in St Germain by Tuesday or so, getting a head start on the fun.

Well, you kids have fun this year. The Blizzard is tapping out after 9 years with 6 finishes and 1 DNF. First run was 2014. Time to go to Yellowstone with BN after an 11 year hiatus. The old Summit is feeling lonely and neglected. Maybe next year...........

Here's a picture from 2019 when we had to run up the west side of Gogebic on the Vintage Challenge. These trails were probably the best we've seen, certainly that day, but likely most of the years that the group had been going up there. You can see Scott on his Blizzard directly in front of my JDX8.

We are about two weeks out from the RWTC!

There is always a bit of a last minute crunch, but we are certainly looking forward to the event.

It appears that the staffing problems that started showing up during Covid have continued, as the bars and restaurants are still running reduced hours or days of operation.

Plans are always subject to weather, snow conditions, or how gung-ho everyone is feeling, but I think we will start the party on Wednesday, probably in the late morning, and head north to find lunch.

On Thursday, we might just take a run down to Lake Tomahawk for lunch.

And on Friday, if we are feeling ambitious, we may run up to Boulder Junction for lunch. Friday evening is of course the official fish fry event at the Whitetail Inn.

All these ideas will start in the parking lot of the Whitetail Lodge motel parking lot.

There are of course other Hall of Fame activities going on; the event at the Eagle River Race track is going on Thursday, and they have a poker run on Friday.

The Deere crew always shows up to ride, and anyone is welcome no matter what color or age machine you are riding.
