295/S headlight options
I've been doing a bit of searching for a headlight assembly that will fit the 295/S and is made in the USA, but can't seem to find one. Most assemblies seem to be 5 3/4 inches and I think these sleds take a 5 1/2 inch light, and every single one seems to be made in China. Does anybody know of one I might be missing?

Re: 295/S headlight options
I have zero experience with the 295/s but it looks to me like the 80 Liquifire used the same headlight. From what I remember these were the GE 4492 bulbs, which were 60watt low / 60 watt high. On my Liquifires I replace them with the H5006 bulbs, which are 35 watt low / 35 watt high. My feeling is that even though the wattage is less a new bulb is brighter than a 40 + year old buld.
80 Liquifire (purchased 1996 ~ Running)
80 Liquifire (purchased 2010 ~ Running....Now)
80 Liquifire (purchased 2011 ~ Not running - I officially have a problem now)
83 Snowfire (purchased 2014 father/son restoration project)
78 Spitfire ~ sold (should have been shot for this)

Re: 295/S headlight options
I think most of the snowmobiles of the time used the same headlight. My 1980 Trailfire 340 has a halogen H4 now, same thing I wanna do for the 295/S. The bulb I wanna use is a made in USA model, but the lens and reflector assemblies all seem to be made in China. Hoping there's an option that's not, but I've yet to see one.

Re: 295/S headlight options
If I'm understanding correctly you want to replace the old sealed beam style with a conversion housing that takes the H4 style bulb?
I've never used any of these conversion housings but are you looking for something like this? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hla- ... yyrGdvvoAL

Yes, that, but made in USA. I looked up the Hella website like with any other brand I could find. They have a map that shows where all their various facilities are. China is one of the two nations on that map that are listed for production.
