Snowco trailer, 81 liquifire and parts trailfire

Post by High Top »

So it has happened again…… I haven’t been building my collection of Deere sleds very long at all. In fact I knew very little about them until a few years ago. But ever since I got the first two trailfires my friends and coworkers have alerted me to any local JD snowmobile sightings. Whether that be in person or someone selling locally online.

I was forwarded a listing of someone selling a 340 and 440 liquifire. One with locked up engine the other was free. I could tell from the hood decals the one was a 81 liquifire……. This peaked my interest so I was put into contact with the selling party. We had a conversation on the phone and I was informed that there was also a trailer that goes along with the two sleds…… this intensified my interest more because I’d been hoping to find a decent two place trailer to at least haul my runners around locally. After the phone call I informed the boss that I would be leaving a touch early and scurried off to the bank for some crisp 100’s.

The in person conversation revealed that these machines were ones I’d actually heard about quite a few years ago but hadn’t ever seen them. I sniffed around on them for a bit and accounted for the hard to find items to make sure they were there. I hadn’t ever researched much on trailers and didn’t have time while looking these over but it seemed like it was possibly built for Deere by a trailer manufacturer. I decided it was good enough for me and paid the guy to take them off his hands. I later discover it is a Snowco which made them for Deere and I also found a parts book online for them. Not sure on the model number as the only thing visible on the tag anymore is just Snowco. Anybody know which it is?

There will be plenty of work to get at least the liquifire running but I was quite happy to see the trailer looks in pretty decent shape! Tires are on the way and I’ll get the power washer out this weekend!
