82 Spitfire carb

My Spitfire runs but not perfect; it has carb problems. I can easily start it and it will run and rev up for about 20 seconds, but then it die real quick. I can save it with the choke and repeat the process. I have not changed the needles or cleaned it since I got the sled, but I plan to. What is the process for cleaning, just carb clean all the holes and the floats until they move properly? I think that they are my problem. I would also like to know the settings the needles should be set at. Thanks.
