Now I have no spark!!!

Post by matts73z »

I'm getting very frustrated with my 80 LF. One of my plug wires was in bad shape so I replaced the coil pack with another that had good wires. I checked it for spark and had nothing. I figured the new coil was bad so I put the old one back on ( which I know was working when I took it off ) I still have no spark  All I did was replace the coil so.........What could I have done wrong???? Both of the coils had to be removed with an impact driver to get the screws out because they were corroded in. Could this have damaged the coils?

I'm about ready to buy another sled and throw this thing out side for the rest of the year!!!

Any corrosion around the screws will not let the coil have a good ground, also I believe that there is a ground wire on the coils if so are you sure you have it properly mounted??

I'm sure I installed it the same way it came off. I assume the ground wire your talking about is the non coated wire that goes under the screw towards the rear of the sled?? If so, yes its hooked up. Maybe I'm not getting a good ground although every thing looks to be clean. It has to be something simple because I had had spark before I changed the coil.

Also.......Is there a way to just replace the plug wires? I couldn't get the old wires off of the coil. I tried to turn them off with no luck.
