Airplane Fuel
I was just wondering if anyone has used airplane fuel in there snowmobiles. I have talked to guys who use it in there stock Harley's and other motorcycles. Just wondered what it did in snowmobiles.

Airplane Fuel
Aircraft fuel is commonly known as 100LL ( 100 octane, LL= low lead )
The UL guys use it from time to time, as it is all that is available at many airports. If you are on a long cross country flight, you run what you can get.
Typically, what is reported is higher than normal egts, and much faster plug fouling
( due to the lead content ). I know, back in the day Deere recomended against using no-lead gas, but apparently the were just covering their butt, it seems to work better
in 2 strokes.
The typical 2 stroke is not designed or tuned to operate on this fuel, and at around $4 per gallon, why would you want to use any?

I used this in the past in my truck when I ran mud bogs and it worked well. But think if you were to just use this in an unmodified run of the mill sled motor fell you just be wasting your money. If your after more power this wont do it. If youd like cleaner burning less plug fouling you can try some expensive oil like aimsoil etc.

Airplane Fuel
pro racers use vp 110 fuel for racing which is better than airplane fuel. to run it effectively compression is maxxed out.. tollerances are adjusted as well as different bearings and carb settings as well and major boreing and porting of ports..

If your going to run a higher octane, then make sure to run a plug that can handle that high of a temp. or you'll melt it And dont be suprised if you blow a head gasget or two If there factory style.

the low comp. in a two stroke motor will not give you any extra power with the high octane fuel. if the comp. is real low it will not even burn the race fuel. we found this out the hard way trying to run it in a golf cart. once we put in low octane fuel the thing ran fine.

Forget the high octane airplane fuel. It may cause a performance reduction in a stock engine designed for "regular" 87 -89 octane automotive fuel, the amount depending upon the engine compression. The only thing it will do is reduce the $ in your pocket.84liquifire wrote: I was just wondering if anyone has used airplane fuel in there snowmobiles.?
