Since the topic of bikes has arisen, I couldn't resist sending in a pic of mine. I just got back from a long tour with it (almost 3 miles). I'm sure I'll quit huffin and puffin in an hour or so.

This one's a little less work to ride, but I still don't think I'll be headin for Sturgis with it anytime soon. I might have to plant one of these mills into my Deere bike. And some company from Vancouver now sells track and ski kits for bicycles. I wonder now.....if I put both an engine and a track/ski kit on my JD mountain bike, I'd have the newest John Deere snowmobile made...I better not, I'd likely hurt myself.

Nice I like it you do a custom paint job on the bike or what is it a real JD. BOB

It's a genuine Deere. I knew JD sold bicycles back in the early to mid seventies, but they quit making them for many years. Last fall, when I stopped at the dealer to pick up some parts for my combine, here's this new 21 speed sitting in the showroom.....I couldn't resist it. So who knows???? maybe they'll start building sleds again.

No sleds now that Deere's dropped the ATV's I bet.
Heck Deere made bikes back in the 1800's, lord knows what those would be worth today and most recently in the 1970's. They have become quite collectible with any blue bike being very valuable as who in the world would order a BLUE John Deere bike??!!
Also the yellow kid's Stingray style bicycles are collectible. Try to buy a seat for one of Ebay! (white banana seat w/yellow flowers down the sides and JOHN DEERE imprinted)
At the time dealers could hardly give them away, not a very successful product for Deere I guess. When we bought our dealership there was still 2 bikes here but I don't know what ever happened to them. Up until about 8 years ago the dealer north of Denver had 4 bikes new in the box. I heard he sold them to a collector in the Midwest for a large amount of money!
The new bikes are pretty decent but I don't know whose making them for Deere. I sold a lot of the inexpensive little kid's bikes but never the adult bike like the one Pete has
