They aren't John Deere but are semi-related I guess, at least in intended use.
I also have gathered up a few Alsport Trackers and Allis Chalmers TerraTigers.
Anyone else have one or both of these?
I found the fact that they were amphibious to be interesting and of course I don't have any of them in anywhere near presentable condition yet.
Alsport made lots of the trikes back in the late 60's even to the point of racing them. They were also responsible for the Steen mini motorcycles and the BoaSki sleds.
They made a road legal version of the trike and at this point the company went bankrupt and was disposed of in a sale. I talked to a fellow who was at the auction. They were based in Norwalk, OH and stuff routinely shows up on Ebay.
The Tracker was a dual tracked machine with two wheels in front for the summer which were changed out for skis in the winter for snowmobiling fun. It was also amphibious so you could charge across small streams and ponds. It was similar to a dune buggy in that you set down inside the body, two people, and you had a steering wheel, instrumentation, lights and a windshield. Neat looking unit.
The AC TerraTiger was a basic balloon tired six wheeler ATV that was also amphibious. Pretty basic machine and a TERRIBLE color in my opinion. Little or no information remains on the TerraTiger or indeed the Allis Chalmers minibikes that were made by their Recreation Division for a few short years.
Interesting units to be sure.
Oh, I also have a Cushman Trackster that I at least have running but that's as far as it's gone
