Sorry to be ignorant about all of this, but what is the purpose? Is it just to get guys and their tractors together to plow a field? I think it looks cool, just wondering.

Its one hell of a cheap way to get your field plowed, just have show and call it a parade lap! LOL

It's just a way for guys in the lawnmower hobby to get together, BS, swap parts and play with their tractors. Kind of like we get together to grass drag vintage sleds. have trail rides etc. All in good fun!

i have been very busy but i thought i would mention my two bits.. my person favorite jd garden tractor is the 69 + hyrdostatic drive (NON BELT DRIVEN) hate that belt!!. drove the 1969 114 for decades dad sold it last year with the old homestead before i could get it pity really. ill find another one sometime want the later model 18hp anyways with the hydralic snow blower( it raises and lowers by hydralic system its cool) 48 mower and tiller with wheel wieghts and chains.

in the meantime the other halfs L130 with snowblower and mower is okay.. of course i have already had to make a few modifications to original lackluster designs.. trying to figure out how to fix that fraging drive belt so it dosnt slip the should be a tensioner somewhere..

but garage is kinda full with my 82 dodge truck at moment.. i just finished putting in new front cab framing, floor pans,rocker/sills, painted it looks okay even without bondo. in pieces waiting to go into truck is 318M code 87 block with milled 323302 swirl port heads, 340 cam centerlined, 70 dual plane intake and carter carb (rebuilt), new fuel pump oil pickup high volume oil pump, 11X2.5 rear brakes 3.55 suregrip 15X8 rims with motomaster roughrider 33X12.5 rear, 15X7 rims with motomaster roughrider 31X12.5 front, , the exhaust will be a custom single from Y pipe to muffler and tail pipe 3 in ( equivalent of dual exhaust really)good rad not new but very good used, good used original fenders not cheap replacements, have yet to weld the bottom lip of doors inner fenders and rad cradle. i will probably put new bearings in the 4 speed manny if it needs it when i replace some leaky gaskets. and i will add a few leafs in rear as well since it only has 4 per side im also probably gonna build a rear brace for front bumper maybe evena cow catcher not sure yet. im having fun. Building a truck with the parts you want is so much better than trying to find one already made in good condition. (note truck came without shoulder strap) hence why i choose it for my project.

what did i start with well truck came with french decals slant 6 4 speed good bench seat good interior a badly installed orange cdi box and distributor, supposedly new heater core havent check that yet, good box and original mint tailgate.overall for that year the truck has survived not badly which condidering the previous owner isnt what one would call in any shape or form mechanically inclined.i bought it for 500 put in fresh gas fill tires with air changed starter and drove it home which surprised the previous owner as it had sat for 8 years.

little things im adding to truck is a stock guage kit oil pressure gauge adn temp gauge am fm cassette yes im using pretty much stock parts all around and not putting in some stupid sound system nor chrome engine parts or thrush mufflers. not fancy rims either stock looking dodge rims with dog dish hubcaps and trim rings. cruise control. maybe power brakes as well havent decided. if i can find one tilt as well would be nice.

i was removing the 11X2.5 rear brakes off a car in scrap yard and lucked into the suregrip at same time went to pull out c clips and low and behold a suregrip! and a nice tight mother too.. 4 bolts and plop out comes the suregrip so for $50 i got the backing plates and drums and suregrip so i was happy. its about 300 or more for a good suregrip and at least 100 for the drums and backing plates ( drums are slightly used new drums) they barely have any rust at all they are so new ( about the same as having new drums exposed to weather for a week.)

i lucked into the engine as well for 150 it was low on 2 cylinders we thought valves turns out it was just a warped head valves were fine although they have been ground and seats done as well. compression on cylinders now is a solid 150 around plus or mines 2 - 5 pounds. it had good oil pressure before and cylinder look chrome with very little ridge so we suspect the M might mean high nickle block as it doesnt have oversized bearings or crank or pistons. 70s 318 m ment oversized bearings 0.001, early 80s meant police engine. 87 year nothing in books specify what it is. i noticed that someone had replaced the head gaskets at one time so that accounts for the warped heads. and they buggers siliconed the piss out of it so i have to flush block out and chase a few threads.

well that about covers what i have been tinkering with/summer project.

I heard about an old 110 for sale in a nearby town and I thought I should go and check it out, and maybe buy it just to have some spare parts for my 1972 110. I went to look at it and it is much older than mine and I really can't see any parts that would interchange with mine. It's a much smaller tractor than mine. Still, I couldn't resist bringing it home. Apparently the engine does run, but hasn't been started in a few years. Someone's done a very bad paint job on it...even painted over the serial number. Now, I'm puzzled what to do with it? Park it in the shed and maybe some day attempt to restore it? Or part it out on ebay? It seems a bit of a shame to dismantle it for parts, but perhaps I can justify it as sacrificing one old JD lawn tractor so that others may live on? I'd likely be more keen on restoring it if the deck lift mechanism wasn't MIA. I did get the deck and it looks in decent shape, but no lift arms and no lift handle hardware, etc, etc. Anyone have any suggestions what I should do with it?

I tried posting a pic of the tractor, but it would not show up. Not sure what I am doing wrong. The pic is well under the 200k maximum size allowed. I might try again later.

If you are using the preview feature, try using the Add Reply instead without the preview. It's a bug in the software.

Restore it or sell it whole to a collector. The early round fendered 110's are collector items. Don't part it out. This is just my opinion. Joel. PS. JD more than likely still has parts for the lift.
