I got the Indy 400 all ready to rock. I had a no spark condition that I just couldn't figure out. Finally after trying 3 good stators and 2 good CDI's, I pulled the plugs on the ign and kill switches. Brightest spark I ever saw. The ign. has contiunuity, but the kill does not. The connector is pretty corroded. Before I undo the factory wire loom, I'd like to know if there is a common prob. with these not working. I cleaned the connector and put some dielectric grease on it, and no dice. I'm thinking that the switch might be bad.

Indy 400 kill switch
Jack, I doubt there's anything wrong with your kill switch as they are generally quite problem free. However, they do cause grief if your throttle cable tension is incorrectly adjusted. There are two small microswitches built into the kill switch and at least one of the switches must be closed at all times for the engine to make spark. Try playing around with your cable adjustment and see what happens. You should have somewhere around 1/16 - 1/8 " of freeplay in your throttle lever before the slides start to rise. This being said, it's still possible that you have a bad kill switch (or one of the micro switches might be sticking). If you need a switch, let me know and I'll see if I have any decent used ones.

Ahhh haaah! I'm waiting on a cable from DK. I've been maually pulling the two throttles for the carbs, and running the injection off of the lever. Thanks! This is great news. Can't shut a sled off very fast with a key in an emergency.
