I like the dog beds at the bottom of the product list.
If I keep buying sleds, I'll have to get one to sleep on out in the garage!
BTW, I use Liberty Diversified Products for some custom packaging at work and they can make just about any egg carton type foam (the rounded kind), in any thickness, and up to 48" wide. We bought some 18" wide by 36" long by about 4" thick (2 mating halves) for about $9 per set.
For a couple hundred bucks they could make a rule die and cut to any shape needed.
Or the foam could be cut to any shape with a water jet cutter with no tooling charge and perfect cuts!

first of all on the trailfire, my 82 lx 440 had the eggcrate style foam! as for danzig, does this foam come with an adhesive backing or like an adhesive foil backing or something? I did see if exposed to direct flame, this foam will smolder, stuff looks like good stuff! thanks bigjohn

Paul,
when I did my restorations I got the egg crate foam from mcmaster carr. Plus I got the sliver back foam there also. They also sell the adhesive needed to aplly the stuff. The stuff I got is flame retardant. I put it on my 295/S and as we all know the pipe rubs directly on this foam. Youo can see pics of it under restos' here on this page. I beleive that was back in 99 or so when I did that machine. I also used similar stuff on my cross country that is on the resto page also.
Anyway the foam is still in good shape on the 295 and I have ridin' that sled some since the resto. Just a FYI for ya if you are interested....

This is acoustic foam for in a building, I don't think it is intended for high-heat conditions.

Paul,
With regards to underhood foam.... When I restored My Trailfire,
I had a steel rule flat die made. When I procured the foam, I used 3M 2 way clear adhesive tape and covered one side of it. I then took the foam and used an old style "clicker" press to cut out the foam pieces - worked REAL well.
My friend owns a steel rule die business so I was lucky in that respect. If you can find someone locally who does this sort of thing (steel rule and rotary dies for the packaging/etc industries), this will be of help to you (obviously to have a die made) but as well to hopefully make connections for you for foam procurement as well as the use of a clicker press.
Hope this helps,
Greg

I am not looking to do this yet. I was just looking around and did a google seach on foam and found this.
I gotta ride this sled yet and break it and then put it back together this coming spring then paint it and polish it like Don's cyclone or just send him my sled with more beer taped to the seat, I may even throw in a steak and potatoe!

I think I mentioned this earlier but I went to our FAQ's section where Matt mentioned Smart Recreation. I ordered from them and am very, very happy. Don
