i had the skies off and jacked the back of the sled up so it was inclined and i couldnt start it then i decided to take the muffler of and there was a ton of fuel in there, was it because i had it inclined, i let the gas all dry out and the i tryed to start it with the muffler off it poped but gas was still shooting out of the muffler tee
so whats my problem

Well, Your Engine in Loaded with Gas.. could be two things. Carb. or a Bad Fuel pump. Alowing fuel to Flood the crank case... Not all that good. Some polaris's did that. I think some Jd's have a Crank Drain plug. But you cant get to it without take out the motor. Somebody with more experience will Probably pop in.. I Know Mice like to make Nests in the Mufflers... You can check that. cause it wont run very well with all that Crap in there..

If your fuel tank has alot of gas in it, and then you raise the back of the sled up alot, including lowering the ski's, gravity is going to help put more fuel pressure into the low mounted carb and fuel pump.
If the fuel pump diaphrams are torn, or the inlet needle on the carb is not seating properly, you can have problems like you discribe. Depending on how steep the angle, fuel might run into the carb throat from the main, choke or pilot circuits, or in the case of the fuel pump, run down the pulse line and bottom fill the crank case.
Try unhooking the carb from the intake and see if you can make fuel run out of it while the lines are still hooked up. Try the same thing with the pulse line and see if gas runs out the port on the pump. This will tell you what needs to be fixed, or if you just had it at too steep of an incline. Shutting off the fuel should help too, if your sled has a remote fuel shut off.

fuel does come out of the pump but is it letting to much out or not stoping flow and causing it to flood?
i took like a half of a gallon out of the muffler

ok i let the gas dry and it starts im back to square 1 it runs but dosent rev up i spayed shots of carb cleaner while running no change, have to keep the throttle full just to keep it running it goes 12mph with the track off the ground, still dosent idel, have to start it with throttle opened all the way, sometimes it will rev up to 12mph and some times it wont get very far, i spray starting fluid in the carb and it wants to die is it flooding, bad fuel pump dirty carb-- what should i be doing or looking for????

i got it running good with carb cleaner and sea foam but it would idel for a little while and then it ran out of gas filled it back up and it wont idel, run and drives but wont idel and have to start it with the throttle wide open i have the air box off is that the problem

have you put new plugs in if you have to hold it wide open its flooded no doubt

Considering how flooded this sled was when you had to drain the muffler out you could still have a very flooded engine and it can take quite awhile to get all the gas out of the crankcase. Have you pulled it over with the pulse line off this will help empty that side of the case.

To add to Andy's post, I would turn off the fuel flow, remove both plugs, turn off the ignition and pull the engine over watching for extra fuel to shoot out of the plugs holes. Install dry spark plugs and and try and start it. Leave the fuel off until all the extra is burned up.
Once you are sure all the extra fuel has been removed, turn on the fuel flow and try and start it again.
More than likely you have a stuck or worn needle/seat or a bad/leaking fuel pump.

Id go through the carb and give it a good cleaning....and intsall a fuel shut off valve.
Then make sure your carb flange is in good shape. That would cause hard starting and backfiring if it is leaking or cracked....If it hasent been replaced I would suggest buying a new one.
Now check the compression. Should be even on both cylinders. If not even....try re torquing the head bolts to the proper torques. If compression is not equal after checking the torques you may have a more serious problem. (worn rings, blown gasket, or scoring)
This is what we did to my buddies TF which wasnt starting or running right...(was back firing) and it did the trick. Starts right up now and runs great!
If you do these things and nothing improves you may need to rebuild the engine with new seals and gaskets. Which is pretty easy on a TF.
