295/S CARB SETTINGS

Post by TASKY »

I need the Carb specs and initial settings for the 295/s. I also need to know which spring hole to put the driven clutch spring in.

Thanks you Bill

295/S carb Std settings
Mikuni VM 34-55
140 main jet
40 pilot jet
6DH3 - 3 jet needle
P-O needle jet
I can't figure out by the part number of the throttle valve what is suppose to be in it for a throttle valve??

* NOTE there maybe Service Bulletin's out there that state something different than what my K-3 service textbook says*

Driven spring in # 1 hole or 12 lbs. of spring tension

Ken

Hey Rich I never did find any of my clutch alienment tools, should I bid on the ones on e-bay or do you have extra's?

Also have you got any Idea what cutaway the throttle valve is for M65356 I can't find that part number in any of my books that show what part number is what cutaway?? I did find this part number as a sub number in the 340/S parts book but I don't know if the new number there is the same cutaway??

I was just doing some quick tuning today and found a number of things. First I had to turn the airscrews out to make any power. From the recommended 1 turn out to 2.5 turns out. This I believe suggests a smaller pilot jet. Secondly when I installed the driven clutch spring I put it in the second hole where most are recomended to go. Last year I had a broken spring and when it shifted it hit hard. With it in hole 2 not so good. I will take it apart again tommorrow and start over again.

I like the idea of a larger jet on the pto side (ala 80's Liquifire update) but how far to richen. On the pilot jet, how much smaller.

Thanks Again Bill

I know in my 295/s the pto has 190 main an 160 mag side. I thought my service textbook said someting about those. I'll have to look again.

I found out today I have 170 main jets in both carbs the rest matches the factory settings. It seems to be running rich. I havent had to choke the machine to start it and I know my choke cables are set right.

I will try 160pto and 150mag.

Where do you check the coloring of a spark plug on a surface gap plug?

Hopefully closing in on a good setup... Tasky

DO NOT Look at the surface gap plug for color ( you WILL get a false reading), Look at the ball joint between the Y pipe & the muffler for color
