Hi, have a bud with a 340 free air .Seems to run good but was wondering about the overall motor especially being a free air. Thanks.

The 340 Kohler F/A as used in the 78-79 Spitifire is solid as a rock. They do not suggest using them above 40 deg F however. But, other than that, they are a great little motor.
