Dept of Natural Resources Strikes again

Post by jerryswiss »

Here in Idaho it is $21.50. My only beef with this is it is required whether I ride on their $%^@ trails or not, which I don't. I don't buy registration and don't ride on groomed trails, just on open land by my house.

If I decide to ride on groomed trails, then I will buy a sticker-fat chance! State Parks and Rec can fund all their cushy jobs some other way!

Next thing you know the only way they will let you ride a sled into Yellowstone, is if you go with a babysitter (guide) and you ride a 4-stroke rental machine.

Honestly, I thought that I read somewhere that it is that way now. But you can ride your own 4-stroke and limited number of sleds daily. Not so?

Indiana- $30 for a 3 year reg. No trail permits, but no real trails unless a club sponsors them. I have heard that there are some up near the IN/MI line that are OK if you get there as soon as it starts snowing and beat the crowd.

Here in Iowa I paid 26.00 for a one year per machine and we have limited trails besides ditches, lakes and rivers. So I donate once a year to the DNR it's cheaper than paying the fines <_<

RAT540,

What is the $8.50 for?

I thought you had to go through BMV and get a sticker for it.

Here in Saskatchewan it is $20 per month, so from Nov.30-Mar.30 cost me $80 per sled. The season might last a week or more longer into April, but we'll see!

could be worst, here in mn they started using the money to pave the trails so the roller bladers and mountain bikes could use them in the summer then banned us if we have studs. then they came out with a $75 stud sticker (not for the paved trails) then got rid of that and now you have to get a registration sticker and a trail sticker to ride on the trails and your own land.

You are correct, it is that way in Yellowstone now! In the future the only difference is they want to restrict the number of machines per day even further, to about 500/day I think. Which is nothing.

Dave,

I am in Ohio also and I just wanted to know. I guess I better get my sleds registered also. For it being that cheap I now feel I would be stupid not too. I never have in the past though, I just ride here around my house-give or take 25 miles or so. I have so much farm land around me that I never even worried about it. I guess that if I plan to take them somewhere some day I better. I just don't like seeing all that crap on a nice sled hood. I remember someone writing about putting them in the inside and keeping the papaerwork with them. The instructions never said that they had to be on the outside! Ha, I got a laugh out of that one.
