80LF Temp Gauge

Post by boetie83 »

I went to put in a new temp gauge yesterday on my 80LF. I ordered a Stewart-Warner 82381-36. That gauge is supposed to fit however the probe does not not seem to fit in the water jacket. Has anyone ever had this same problem?

did you buy the adapter kit? There is a seperate bag of brass fittings, you need one of those to complete the job.

80LF Temp Gauge

I was helping blake install the the temp gauge on his sled the other night.

I noticed probes diameter is larger than the stock probe. The fitting on the probe threads into the fitting on the water jacket no problem. The problem is the probe not being able to slide into the water jacket.

What exactly is included in the adapter kit?

Thanks,
Eric

Took care of the problem. A 7/16" drill bit inside the water jacket did the trick! Everything fits nicely and looks good.
