'74 JDX4 suspension installation

Post by jd ike »

I finished rebuilding the motor on this thing 2 weeks ago, today I assembled it to the chassis and got it running. Then next step is to put the rear suspension back in the sled but I'm having issues lining up the holes to the side of the tunnel. Not only that but the die cast parts that hold the springs keep falling out...Does anyone have a trick to installing these?????

First loosen the two track tension bolts.

Install the front two bolts first. An alignment punch or phillips screw driver with help a lot.
Start the spring adjusting bolts in the front with the rear of the supension still hanging down.

Then raise the rear and install the remaing two bolts and spring adjusters.

Then set all four adjusters and tighten the four tunnel bolts.

Finally do track tension and alignmnet adjustments.

A second set of hands really is a plus.
