Anyone know the factory specs for tuning the carb on a 1980 Sportfire? I need to adjust the idle and also the needle on the throttle slide.

Gary,

According to my fine tune manual for the Sportfire:

Main Jet: 210
Power Jet: 170
Jet Needle: 6F27-3
Needle Jet: (159) Q0
Throttle Valve: 3.0
Pilot Jet: 25
Air Screw: 1 1/2 turns open
Idle Speed: 2400-2700 rpm

Hope this helps,

RObb

Thanks guys, this helps a lot! One other question, on the the throttle slide on the carb (the cap) there is a there's a rod that looks like it can be adjusted since these carbs do not use the "e" clips like other Mikuni carbs. Is that supposed to be adjusted a certain way? What is its purpose?

Which side of the throttle valve needs to clear, just the back cut out part or the front? I would assume the front, which would make the back clear also and let in the maximum amount of air.
While going through my manuals I see it is worded differently from manual to manual leaving it open to interpretation. Thanks TASKY
