i need to know any hints or tips that can help me get the spring in the dawn thing it is very hard for me i havent figured it out quite yet so people please get back to me

This works for me. Clean all the grease off of the spring first. Place the outer hook of the spring around the post inside of the recoil housing. Feed the spring into the recoil housing and lay it inside the guides, so the spring is going into place from the outside to the inside. You will have to hold the spring in place for a few revolutions . Be patient, it can get frustating. Once the spring is completely in, you may have to adjust the inner hook for the rope pulley to fit down inside the hook. Sometimes if you place the pulley 180 degrees from the hook and then spin it into place, the pulley will catch the hook properly.

Pretty much just as Harley said you have to start on the outside and work your way in. If you have someone to help hold the housing thats a big help also. From a safety standpoint its good to wear leather gloves when doing this and keep eyes/face away from the recoil.
