I think it is a member of this site!

My question is, what type of fish is that.

I went fishing Spoon Bill ( snagging they call it, as the spoonbill or paddle fish don't bit you just have to be lucky enough to snag one with your line) over the week end, on Lake of the Ozarks in south central Mo. On Sat all I caught was tree stumps, rocks, someones old trout line (about 50ft. of it), & I think I might have even found Jimmie Hoffa, but unfortunately all I could get off the bottom of the lake was some of the plastic he's wrapped up in.... On Sunday I did mange to snag a Spoon Bill these are the pictures of it, it weighted about 55 lbs. over the 2 days the 4 of us fishing got 4 of these bad boys (& girls) You get about 20 lbs of eatable meat out of one fish.....

deep sea fishing rod & real $150.00
300 yards of 150 lb. test fishing line $ 60.00
27 lost #12 triple hooks $ 87.75 lost because of hooking all the S**T in the lake
Round trip diesel fuel $ 100.00

Total fishing trip cost $ 397.75 +
Catching one of these BIG ugly bastards PRICELESS

Kenny

PS. Thanks for posting the pictures for me Matt

Kenny,

Nice catch! We were striper fishing on the Green river down in Kentucky one day. While motoring along we saw a rope tied between two trees over on the bank. There were 9 spoonbill carcasses hanging from it. None were as large as the one you caught but still nice fish. We were kind of in shock at the sight! Mainly due the fact that "snagging" is illegal except for at the dam. That same day my buddy Ricky had a bite and it acted really funny. The line zigged zagged back and forth instead of diving and running. It was very fast too. It put up a good fight. When he got it near the boat it was a river eel! He had caught one before and said they are not to be messed with because of their teeth. So we just cut the line.

Only $100 spent in diesel fuel? It must have been a short drive.
