Liquidator seat
hopefully you guys can help me out with some specs for one of my dator seats. I have one seat that will get recovered. It has no rear tank. The other sled is missing it's seat all together and it has a rear tank. I need to know what the arse end of the seat (with rear tank) looks like. Does it have a drip ring? Does just the gas cap stick out? I assume that the seat foam surrounds the tank as well, and it is not just fabric covering the tank? If anybody has a pic they could post that would be very much appreciated.

The rear of the seat has a metal ring riveted around the filler neck. I'll see if I get a picture of one. I had an original one and I alos fabed one from a couple used bearing flanges. The foam goes over the tank about 1" thick, If you didn't have a rear tank there is a foam filler the size of the tank that was removable.

Richard here is one picture that I have on file. I don't exactly know if it is the correct ring on the filler neck.

That ring doesn't look quite right but very close. I believe the originals had a slight curl up around the edge. All depends how picky one is. The one I made isn't completely corredt but is fine in my opinion.

my dad and I were talking about this last night and he pondered.....our current dator doesn't have the rear tank but the seat foam has a removable insert that can be removed to accept said rear tank. so that would work for our rear tank dator. for the sled with no rear tank, could a person use a liquifire or cyclone seat as a replacement? Are they the same as the dator?
Thanks for the info so far guys

The flange in picture appears to be steel, are those aluminum rivets? What do they accomplish? What distance between tank and flange?
Thanks, Bill

Appears to me he sandwiched two plates with the vinyl inside and then riveted them together.
Looks respectable to me.

Cyclones and LFs do not use snaps to fasten the seat Like the dator does. But one could make about anything to work.

The replacement seat for the Dators was the 78 liquifire seat thats probably why there isn't any of them available anymore either

Not having the snaps is not an issue. But is the foam the same? or at least very close to the dator seats in appearance?

The foam is different, The Dator seat has a longer taper to it in the back than the replacement 78 seat does..

the dator has a plastic insert in the front that covers part of the fuel tank. if you have one to copy from the foam can be rebuilt but a complete new seat should have the plastic insert to be correct.
deere still sells a interior/foam glue that you can use to glue the layers of foam together i can get 6" thick foam here.
