Definately a 92. That was the only year the 500 SP Fuely had pink graphics. The 93 was black with some turqouise/blue/aqua graphics.

Like Rich says, a good battery is essential. The 92-94 EFI Polaris sleds used a very small YB9A-A battery and you were lucky to get 2 seasons out of them. So make sure the battery is up to snuff. The most troublesome thing on the fuelies were bad electrical connections. I'd pull apart every connector and clean the contacts fully, then apply some dielectric grease to all of them before reconnecting. Hopefully, the EFI brainbox is OK......but they sometimes crapped out and a replacement is expensive. A fairly common problem on the 92 Indy 500's (not just the EFI's, but the carb jobs too) was the exciter coil on the stator plate. I sorta doubt this is the problem though because even when they went bad, they'd usually still give spark until the engine warmed up and then quit......but I have seen a couple that went out totally. If yours is bad, you can replace just the coil without buying the entire stator plate. Regarding the CDI box, they are generally bullet proof on the Indy 500's....so I doubt it's the problem, but you never know. The nice thing about it is that the same CDI is used on so many Indy 500's, you're sure to know someone who can lend you one from his sled to try.

If it's a stock original sled, it does not have carbs. Instead, it uses dual EFI throttle bodies (which to some extent resemble carbs, but are vastly different). However, it is entirely possible that during the last 16 years, someone may have changed it over to carbs.....I've seen this lots when people have EFI brainbox probs and aren't keen on paying nearly a grand for a new box. I don't have any EFI parts left, but if your exciter coil is bad, I might have one kicking around ......just not real sure. Are they hard to work on? Yes, without the proper test equipment, your pretty much buggered. But you local Polaris dealer will likely be glad to work on it for $75.00/hour or so. I hope you are getting the sled real cheap as I'm betting you are purchasing a headache. Good luck!liquifire_freak wrote:so is there a carb on this sled or is it completely fuel injected?
