Who all is working on a 340S for the VC ride?

Post by HoosierDeereMan »

Hey guys,

Several of us are planning on taking 340S sleds to the 2009 Vintage challenge ride. Brian, Don, Rainville, and myself are all working on them. We have exchanged emails and have tried to help each other out with parts, and sources for hard to find items on these sleds.

Who else out there is working on one?

Alot of items we need are cheaper in bulk. Some of us may have access to parts or resources that others may need and not realize it.

I'm currently working on the windshield gaskets that fit the hood. I've got the rubber cord but struggling with getting it grooved and slotted for the windshield tabs to fit into.

Thanks,
Troy

An example of sharing resources would be this:

Last January, I bought a seat cover from John for the 340S. He sent along a bunch of silver snaps, as he knew I was ditching the velcro for snaps. The more I thought about it however, the more convinced I became that I had to have black snaps.

It takes 32 to do the seat and tank cover, and I bought them from a fabric and notions supplier out of Florida. They sent a catalog along with the snaps, and that is when I realized that I could have bought 100 snaps for just a few more bucks, enough for 3 sleds.

If anyone needs snaps, speak up.

McMasterCarr sells the black snaps in packages of 100 for $48.37.

I know I mention MCM often but they really do carry a lot of stuff that is uesd on sleds.

24 hour a day phone number and they stock everything! I have never placed an order with them that was backorderd.

The search engine on the website is great! www.mcmaster.com

And no, I do not own their stock. :):)

I haven't looked at Mc Carr....

To be specific, the snaps I have are Matte Black ( match the vinyl ) $35 per hundred.

However, you then have to add the male half ( eyelet ) $ 23 per hundred.

No claims being made.
