Trailfire steel tunnel

Post by 80_liquifire »

Just wondering , has anybody , ever used truck bed coating , on theunderside of a steel tunnel.

The steel tunnel I have on a trailfire has some rust , looking to get off as much as possible . Then recoat , think truck bed coating would be any good or paint be the best ?

This trailfire is going to be a ice fishing gear sled.

Opinions ideas etc....

I used a product called por 15 on a trailfire tunnel that had some rust. Mine was under the seat so the seat cover up the black color.

I think truck bedliner would be too thick, & heavy too. It might interfere with the track. The por 15 that cooter mentioned is designed to seal & adhere to rust. How about powder coating? You can even get it in colors. Some guys are doing vintage restorations entirely in powder coat.

I haven't painted a steel tunnel but I have used POR 15 and Rust Bullet. Of the two I much prefer Rust Bullet. The Rust Bullet was much better a stopping the rust on the steel running boards of an Explorer I used to have. It works out cheaper too because you don't need to buy the cleaner and metal prep.

I used bed liner on the exterior of the tunnel on this 79 T fire.
