O.k. ,
I have cleaned the needle and seat and it is working. I took the fuel line from the crank case off and pulled the motor over until the gas was gone. Hooked everything back up. Pulled the rope about 10 times and still have gas running out of the muffler. No pop or sputter. I am not sure what to do. I got spark, clean carb but to much gas.

Try running the sled off a gas can placed lower than the carb on the sled and see what happens.

Is the impluse line to the fuel pump full of gas. If so, the pump diaphram probably is bad allowing fuel into the crankcase.

Yes, the impluse line is the line from the crankcase to fuel pump. The original type would be clear. This line normally would have traces of fuel, not totally full.jasoniowa wrote:Is the impulse line the one from the crank case?

Another test is to remove the carb from the rubber mount and set it in a bowl upright. The bowl would catch any fuel over flowing if the needle/seat are bad. Carefully try and pull the recoil several times. The fuel pressure developed would push thru a leaking needle/seat over flowing.

Is it possible to put that fuel pump together wrong. I am wondering if I am pushing gas into the crank case flooding it.

Being new to snowmobiles i am just not sure how i am getting so much gas in the crank case.

Gas leaves the carb, goes thru the read valves into the crankcase, than is draw up into the cylinder. ..where compression and spark happens.
If the case is full of fuel you may have to drain it out manually. There may be two small plugs located at the base of the lower case. You can remove these with a 10mm socket and let the fuel drain out. There is a small brass sealing washer under the plugs. Careful not to loose these.
Severe flooding can come from faulty choke, needle/seat problem. faulty fuel pump.

Ok, I got a compression checker. Both cylinders have 148 psi. Here is what I did tonight, I took the carb off. I then put the line that goes to the carb in a bucket. I then pulled the engine over and in about 10 pulls the gas was coming out of the muffler again. Does this sound like a bad fuel pump, allowing gas to go back into the engine?

I'm not clear on which line you put in the bucket, but the fuel pump is a cheap and easy thing to replace or rebuild. It should be done anyway.

the line that normally goes from the fuel pump to the carb is the one I put in the bucket, that way when I pulled it over the gas pumped into the bucket. Do you think the pump is the issue, since gas is coming out of the muffler?

If your line was pulled off the carb, then the fuel coming from the muffler is the fuel that has filled the engine. Did you try swapping the lines like we talked about on the phone? It sounds like you reassembled the pump correctly if fuel is coming out when you pull the rope. I can send you that new pump that we talked about, or you could get a rebuild kit for yours. I would go ahead and replace the needle and seat with a viton tipped one. I'm wondering if your float level is off. When you have the bowl off and the carb upside down do the tabs on the float arm sit parallel to the carb body? If the tabs are bent downward (with carb upside down) then the floats are not able to close the float valve (needle/seat) all the way.

I will have to check the float level, but I beleive it is parallel. I did reassemble the pump and it seems to be working but not sure. One thing that I am going to try tonight is take off the impluse line and clear out the gas agian. Then pinch that impluse line off and see if it will start with the fuel in the carb. Harleysportster was thinking that the fuel pump is weak letting fuel back into the impluse line to the crankcase. If it starts I will call you and get a pump from ya.
