Welland Works

Post by Jack Frost »

The Welland Ontario plant is 20 min from where I live. I have many friends and family members that have worked at the plant for years. The anouncement that it will be closed in 2009 was a blindside to most! The company that I work for hauls frieght for the JD plant and the closure will affect us as well as many other businesses in the area. It has been a tough go for a few years in this area for manufacturing with the closure of many plants and mills with many more on the brink!

I have alot of customers that work there.I have known the production manager for about 4 years and this was in the works for about 3years, but John Deere didnt want the word gettin out.The last 2 years there was large amounts of people being let go due to lack of work. Its really sad that they are moving, there was about 600 people who worked there full time and now they wont have anyways to support their families..
