This comes up now and then, but here is what I can remember...

Some time in the mid-70's my stepfather purchased a New Artic Cat Lynx 292 "I think" along with a Polaris Colt 340. Never drove either of them, but got lots of rides. (I am thinking this was around kindergarden or 1st grade.)

First sled I drove was my cousins 500cc Hirth powered 1970 Moto-Ski MS-18, burried it in a snowbank. Thought my Uncle was going to shoot us both. That was around 78 or so.

First sled I purchased was a 1969 Moto-Ski Cadet 250 with a Hirth 246cc single in the summer of 83 for $50.00. I was 13 then. Later that fall I bought my first John Deere, a 73 JDX-8 for $75.00. Found out if Feb of 84 Deere sold out to Polaris.

Fall of 84 I purchased a 76 Liquifire with a blown PTO piston. Still have that sled! After graduating collage in 94 I started buying up old Deeres. Haven't stopped yet.

Derre Kid... That picture is priceless. I love it.

The first sled I actually rode on was a 67 or 68 Ski-Daddler.
The Diablo doesn't count as you didn't ride it, it pulled you around.

First sled I drove was a 69 Scorpion.

First sled I owned myself was a 73 440 Panther and I still have that one.

First sled I rode was a 90's something Polaris. Was my friends dad sled, and we ended up blowing it up that night. Didn't ride again until I bought a '74 400 probably 5 years later. Should have hung onto that old girl.

Shoot, looks like Grandma and Grandpa Amber both got to ride the 340/S before me. I'm realizing how deprived I really was. They even got JD suits.

First sled I rode that I can remember was either a 64 - 65 Polaris
Sno-Traveler, Rear engine 4 stroke Briggs or Kohler, had a track that looked like a manure spreader chain (only narrower) with leather in between the cleats, had a forward & reverse & a hand throttle between your legs ( bad Idea as it got away from the driver from time to time while crossing fences & then he'd have to run it down) we used this sled basically for Fox hunting back then, not pleasure riding..
Really my first snowmobile ( yea right ) was a 1952 TD-9 International Crawler I used to take it out when I was about 12 (about 1960) & ran all over the fields with it after school, until one day I tried going over snow drifts with it ( 8 ton does not go over big drifts ), Damn near got it stuck, I really don't remember how I got it out ( I know I tore up that whole big snow drift getting it out ) but when the old man saw what I had done or almost had done, that was the end of my snowmobiling with "THE CAT" until I rode a real snowmobile..

1972 400.
Brand new.
I apparently used to fall asleep between mom & dad when I was one yr old.
Then I rode only & STILL only ride DEERE to this day. Everything but a Dator, 340S & 295S.
(Okay I drove a friend's '80 TXL last year but that was only ONCE.)
:beers;
BTW when my kids get old enough to post here they will say '79 Trailfire.

My first sled was a 77 John Deere 300. My dad bought it from Kuhl Implement in Granton Wisconsin which was about 25 miles from his farm. I remember they were running a special on JD 300's in the local paper for weeks. I would cut these adds out and put them all over the house. I'm not sure if I just plain drove him nuts or he just knew how badly I wanted that sled. Dad surprized me big time. He hollered it's time to get to the barn to do chores and I reluctantly came out of the house to see a shiney new John Deere 300 in the back of dad's 69 Chevy farm truck. I think I was about the happiest kid ever. I drove that sled for years and it was very dependable. Now I know I sound like Danzig :liar: :lol22: , but I talked my parents into letting me drag race at the local Lion's Club event and I placed second beating out a Sno-Jet SST295 and a brand new Rupp Nitro 250 Liquid. Remember Paul, this is the truth and they didn't pull a plug wire off   Duane
