liquifire crank problems

Post by aleitheiser »

I am in the process of repairing my 80 LF and I don't know how to get the bearing and gear off the PTO side of the crank to change the crank seal :wall: , since I don't have thew tool specified in the tech manual. So any help on this would be appreciated
thanks

Well there is the right way and the way I do it. :D I am going to catch hell for this but It works. I take a screwdriver or a small punch and hammer and gently hit all the way around the ring until i work it off. Make sure you use plenty of lube when it goes back together. I also do this to put it back on.

Use a 2 piece bearing separator for the removal. For the install, get a coffee can, 30wt oil and put about 2 inches of oil in the can, get it smoking hot, drop bearing in the oil, get it hot remove bearing from can and install the bearing. The bearing has got to be smoking hot or it wont go all the way on. Use gloves when doing the install.
