Need help starting a Scorpion whip

Post by ruppster »

I have a 77 scorpion whip 440. Got spark--got gas--got compression--but I can't get it to fire at all. Gas squirted in plugs holes--nothing---got excess gas in muffler so it's getting plenty. ANY IDEAS--I WILL TRY ANYTHING AT THIS POINT!!!!!!!!!! New gas lines and everything is flowing freely

Let that sucker dry out for a couple of days. Those engines are easy to flood and it sounds like yours is over flowing. Take the plugs out and hold the throttle wide open with wire or what ever and just let it sit ,then starting with fresh plugs and no choke try it again, if still nothing try the choke but only for a couple of pulls. Also make sure the plugs are gapped correctly as it makes a huge difference on these engines.Oh and take the exhaust off and drain/dry as well. Good luck and keep us posted.

While you have the exhaust off make sure it is not full of sunflowerseads, acorns and grass. Also remove the dead mice.
