i went for a ride on wed. and it was all going fine till i broke through the ice by the creek . we got the sled out of the water and got dried off, and thursday morrning went to work on it and the fuel line had come off from the fuel pump. we got it running but the suspension was a block of ice. tried to knock it out, ended up having to lift up the back with the bucket on the kubota. once we got most of the ice out we noticed the sliders had slid back on both sides. then while it was still up in the air we started it to fling the rest of the mud and such out of the track and ended up with the recoil handle still in my hand. then while loading it on the trailer the tail light broke.
and i know most of this was rider error, but it was probably a blessing in desguise that i went through the ice and noticed the slides off and theirfore didnt need a track.

Decker, look at it this way at least it didn't go in deep enough that you had minnows in the crankcase & on top the pistons,
We had a Ski Doo in the shop one time we had to disassemble the whole motor to get the minnows & mud out..

Well there is a zr 600 that comes into a local shop every spring with the crank full of water. I has happend 3 times now, they don't know if it is bad storage or sabotage. You think after it happened once that the owner would watch the sled closer? Oh well give my friend something to do in the fall.

Back in the day I sank an '80 Liquifire in 17 feet of water. We were waterskipping and water came in through the vent holes in the TPR panels in front of the primary. Belt started to slip and finally blew. I was so close to the other side of the ice that I was able to jump off the sled and hold the ski loop with one hand and touch the ice with the other. The sled actually floated for awhile until the front end tipped down and all the air came out from the tunnel and then it sank like a rock. We fished it out that same day and drained all fluids and had it running but the seat froze solid and weighed about 200 pounds. Seat never did dry out completely. Ahh, the good old days.

Yes..I have been in the good ole river here also..but we fish em out same day and get them running..Don't usually wait 7 months The best way I have found to dry the seat foam is to take the cover off,,Put down a sheet of plywood(cut to fit) set the foam in place put another piece of plywood on top and drive the truck back and forth on top of it and then hang in front of wood heat for a few days,,Good as new...
